Learning outcomes: Knowledge: - knows the methods and techniques of molecular biology used in various disciplines of biology: molecular evolution, cellular and genetic engineering, plants and animals transgenesis, reproductive cloning and therapeutic gene therapy [BI_W04, BI_W07, BI_W08, BI_W09, BI_W11, BI_W16]. Skills: - student is able to use the basic molecular techniques, such as isolation of DNA from blood and other tissues, the technique of PCR, electrophoresis on agarose gel and polyacrylamide, RFLP analysis, sequencing of genes, archiving RFLP analysis and sequencing, computer processing of data for practical use [BI_U02, BI_U05, BI_U06, BI_U09, BI_U12]. Social competences: - understands the importance of molecular biology in modern biology - is aware of the responsibility for the common tasks performed in the laboratory - has responsibility for the entrusted equipment [BI_K02, BI_K03, BI_K07].

Competences: Completion of the course makes possible to work in molecular biology laboratory and to lead research about genomics, molecular phylogenetics and molecular evolution.

Prerequisites: biochemistry, cell biology, genetics

Course content: Molecular phylogenetics and evolution, genoterapia genetic diseases, viral infections and cancer cell reprogramming, amyloidosis and protein amyloidogenne, methods and techniques transgenizacji organisms, reproductive and therapeutic cloning.

Assessment methods: Completion of the course: student who has completed the exercise, effective written examination, during which you should answer the questions presented in the form of problems to solve. If the exam you will fail in the first period, the student has the right to take it again in the second period. Assessment exercises: written tests to assess the current rating (based on oral statements) progress and activity. The presence of the exercises is compulsory, the student may have only one unauthorized absence. In the case of excused absences the student is required to pass the relevant part of the material. Completion of exercises based on the average ratings.
