The course taught in English if the group has ≥6 students. The course taught in Polish with a possibility of support in English if the group has <6 students.

Learning outcomes: Knowledge: Student knows methods of chemical and instrumental analysis, methods and analytical techniques used in the and rules for processing of biological material. He/she has the knowledge needed to handle laboratory and is able to indicates the advantages and disadvantages of various analytical techniques. Skills: Student makes use of the spectroscopic and optical methods used in laboratory analytics, can evaluate the factors affecting the outcome of laboratory tests, avoiding before and post analytic mistakes and interprets the results of the laboratory tests on the basis of the standards and reference values. Additionally student collects and interprets the data derived from the analysis and, on this basis, draws conclusions as well as identifies the quality management systems in terms of animal and human health.

Competences: Student demonstrates responsibility for an assessment of the hazards arising from research techniques and shows attention to creating safe work conditions.

Prerequisites:

Course content: Safety and work hygiene in the laboratory, sample collection and preparation for analysis, analytical errors, the concept of standards and reference values, basic methods (classic instrumental) and techniques used in the laboratory analysts, interpretation of results, quality control testing, accreditation of the laboratory.

Assessment methods: Assessment of tutorials: The presence of the exercises is compulsory; a student can have three unexcused absences. In the absence of excused the student is required to pass the relevant part of the material. Current rating (based on oral expression) advances in learning and activity. Score written in the form of written test. Completion of the course: Written test including the material of the lectures and labs. If the test is not passed in the first attempt, a student has the right to take it either orally or in writing in second attempt.
