Learning outcomes: Student knows the functions and importance of macroergonomics. Student knows the basic principles of ergonomic designing used in building of complex systems. Student knows the role of diagnostics in the elements forming macroergonomic system. Skills Student is able to identify problems and needs in terms of macroergonomics design. Student can indicate the differences between a micro- and macro-ergonomics. Student can analyze a technical objects in the process of macroergonomic designing.

Competences: Student is aware of the importance of macroergonomic design for worker who is a member of complex system.

Prerequisites: Knowledge of basic concepts/definition in ergonomics. Knowledge of issues related to the assessment of the impact of environmental factors on worker’s health and safety.

Course content: The subject concerns the functioning and designing of macroergonomic systems - complex multi-objects in companies and in public areas. There are presented the principles of macroergonomic design. There are discussed the possibilities and directions of changes in the macroergonomic systems. There are analyzed internal and external relationships in multi-objects systems. It is taken into account an impact of the macroergonomic system on the external environment. Definition and origin of macroergonomics, areas of macroergonomic implementation, the differences between micro- and macro-ergonomics. Structure of macroergonomic systems, internal and external relations in macroergonomic systems. Corrective and creative aspects in macroergonomics. The principles of macroergonomic designing. The aim and subject of ergonomic analysis. Decision-making process and criteria of choice of solutions in the macroergonomic designing. The stages of macroergonomic designing. Human subsystem and technical subsystem in macro scale. The human factor – inborn and acquired characteristics of system’s users, elements of psychology and sociology in the system designing. Technical factor in system building - the selection of technical objects in projecting of complex systems, evaluation of cooperation with other objects. Attestation and standardization in macroergonomics. The role of organizational activities in the development and correction of complex systems. An influence of macroergonomic systems on the external environment - assessment of the impact on the natural environment, on society and on other objects or systems. Assessment of corrective and creative solutions applied in macroergonomic systems.
