Learning outcomes: On completion of the course the student has elementary knowledge about enzyme activity, mechanisms of the most useful enzymatic reactions, their technological applications alongside with the methods of control and isolation of products.

Prerequisites: Organic Chemistry, Biochemistry, Microbiology

Course content: Enzymatic reactions, the mechanisms of: hydrolytic reactions, reduction of carbonyl group, hydroxylation reactions, β-oxidation; pro and cons of enzymatic reactions. Applications of biocatalysts to organic synthesis, especially in food industry.
