Learning outcomes: Student is able to identify the most important weeds. Student knows their biology and meaning in environment.Student has also ability to assess harmfulness of weeds and to take a decision about control them. Student makes also a decision on choice of proper method of weed control. As far as chemical method is concerned student is able to select herbicides properly, knows rules of their taking and student is able to assess effects of taking herbicides for environment.

Competences: After passing the course student receives ability to independent taking a decision on performing of treatments which reduce number of weeds in various crops, student is able to perform such a treatment properly taking into consideration industrial safety, environment protection and consumer safety.

Prerequisites: Biological principles of agriculture (botany, tillage and plant production, microbiology, plant physiology, genetics)

Course content: Meaning of weeds in various ecosystems especially agroecosystems. Environmental factors affect plant communities. Harmful and beneficial meaning of weeds in crops and surroundings of crops.Methods of plant protection putting emphasis on proper using of integration of protecting methods. Criteria of taking a decision on weed control.
