Learning outcomes: The aim of the course is to provide knowledge about fungi and fungi like organisms. In lectures incorporates all the important new developments in the mycology: recent taxonomy, genetic, populations genetic, ecology and biotechnology. In practices students will be learn isolations techniques, identification of fungi, maintenance and specimens.

Competences: Student will be able to recognize more popular specimens and genera of fungi especially sporulating w pure culture, to know laboratory techniques. The lectures gives students practical knowledge about the fungi in ecosystems.

Course content: The position of fungi within living organisms. Cytology and organization of fungi. Phylogenetical systematic and evolution. Main taxonomic groups Chromista and Fungi. Lichenes. Physiology of fungi. Fungal genetics. The role of fungi in nature. Medical and veterinary mycology. Phytopathology of the fungi and plant protection. Industrial mycology. Chemicals, pharmaceutics and enzymes processes by fungi. Use of fungi in environmental protection. Fungal biotechnology. Mushroom breeding.
