Learning outcomes: The course provides an integrated overview of theory and practice concerning the preparation of scientific papers in the field of biology; practical skills apply to the ability of writing and processing the biological text, ability to conduct a scientific discussion and to present the results of scientific studies; the acquired knowledge will be used in the process of preparation and defending the MSc thesis.
Competences: Ability of writing and processing the scientific text; conducting a discussion using biological vocabulary; review and scientific proofreading.
Prerequisites: Course grades after first degree studies.
Course content: Types of scientific publications; unpublished scientific theses; structure of Master thesis; review of literature; aim and scope of the paper (thesis); material and methods; results processing; discussion and conclusions; graphics and tables; reference preparation according to different guidelines; manuscript processing; proofreading; oral presentation; poster presentation; review of scientific paper; preparation to defending the MSc thesis.
