The course in English will be available if a minimum of 6 students sign up for a group.

Learning outcomes: During the course student gets a theoretical knowledge of the Earth’s gravity field modeling methods which are used in geodesy and is also able to use the methods in practice. . He or she can show basic differences between particular solutions and possibilities of application of them.

Competences: Passing the course gives the base to take the gravity measurements and geodetic works connected with the Earth’s gravity field modeling.

Prerequisites: mathematics, physics, adjustment theory, geodesy.

Course content: Fundamentals of gravity field theory. Spherical harmonic expansion of the gravitational potential. Boundary value problems of potential theory. Geodetic boundary value problems and their solutions. Methods of computations of the geoid, quasi-geoid and deflections of the vertical. Fundamentals of gravity measurements.
