Learning outcomes: Student possesses theoretical knowledge on forming soils and their properties as a main source of macro and microelements, water and oxygen. He is able to use the basic soil analysis in practice and can interprete its results. Student can also estiamte quality of the soil and its usefullness in the horticulture.

Competences: Finishing the course gives the opportunity to work in horticulture farms, agricultural consulting offices and agricultural-chemistry stations as well as facilitate planning in the horticulture.

Prerequisites: Chemistry, Physics, Botany

Course content: Forming the soils, their morphology, 3-phases system, physical, chemical, biological and physico-chemical properties of soils; fertility, classification, soil needs of horticultural plants, cartography of the soils.

Assessment methods: Obligatory exam. Minimum for passing: 60 percent
