Learning outcomes: Student knows factors which effect on yielding. She/he knows chemical composition and nutrition requirements of plants as well as a way of estimation of soil nutrients availability. Student is able to plan and carry out a regulation of soil pH reaction and nutrients availability with taking into consideration plants` demands and soil environment properties. Student is able to distinguish basic fertilizers and is able to choose optimal kind and doses of fertilizers.

Competences: Student in farm may estimate a soil nutrients availability and nutrition requirements of plants. She/he is able to make plans of crop fertilization, choose optimal term of fertilization, calculate doses of nutrients and fertilizers. Student can choose kind of fertilizers and technology its application with taking into consideration principles of environmental protection.

Prerequisites: Soil Sciences, Plant Physiology

Course content: Environmental demands of plants. Physiological functions of basic macro and micronutrients. Nutritional requirements of plants. Mechanism and dynamics of nutrients` uptake. Soil sorption properties. Soil acidification and nutrients availability. Specificity of fertilizers and their chemical changes. Doses of fertilizers and its influence on a quality of yield. Techniques of fertilizers application.
