Learning outcomes: Student is acquainted with main annual and perennial weed species infesting agricultural fields and their importance. During the course student is acquainted with principles of weed control in main arable crops, especially with chemical weed control methods and danger resulting from herbicide using.
Competences: After completion the course student is able to recognize main weed species and control them using rules of integrated plant protection.
Prerequisites: botany, principles of crop production.
Course content: Agronomic, mechanical and biological methods of weed control and their efficiency, chemical weed control, rules of classification, mechanism of action and practice of herbicide application, characteristics of basic groups of herbicides, possibilities of reduction in herbicide use in crop production, diagnostics of main weed species, planning of weed control in main groups of crops.
