Learning outcomes: Student gets knowledge about diagnostics methods applied for detecting of animal contagious diseases and about control of contagious diseases.Graduating the course student has basic knowledge about general aspects of veterinary epidemiology.

Competences: Student is able to lead epizootiologic investigation, sample materials for laboratory tests and use the proper methods for detection of contagious diseases.

Prerequisites: General veterinary microbiology, basic computer sciences

Course content: Historical background, basic definitions used in epizootiology and epidemiology; Ways of disseminating of contagious diseases among animals; Infection, types of infections; Diagnostics methods applied for detecting of contagious diseases; Control of animal contagious diseases; Elimination of contagious diseases; Epizootiologic anamnesis; Proceeding in hotbed, in a plaque stricken region, threatened region and in buffer zone of a contagious disease; Devastation of a germ in an organism and animal environment; Disinfection, pest control and rat extermination; Utilisation -categorisation of wastes; Issues related to infections transferred from animals onto humans.
