Learning outcomes: During the course a theoretical knowledge concerning morphological, cytological and histological structure of plants as well as scheme of basic physiological processes: photosyntesis, water economy and mineral nutrition, reproduction, susceptibility, response to environmental stresses is gained. Students know also plants species used in animal breeding. They improve skills to make microscopical slides and use optical microscope. They are able to recognize plants edable and harmful for animals.

Competences: Passing the course permits to study some specialized fields based on the knowledge of plants.

Prerequisites: Biology and chemistry on the level of secondary school

Course content: Morphological, cytological and histological structure of plants. Localization and scheme of basic physiological processes: photosyntesis, water economy and mineral nutrition, reproduction, susceptibility, response to environmental stresses. Influence of chemical contamination of environment upon plant organism. Review of selected plant families with special attention of species important for animal management.
