Learning outcomes: During the course a theoretical knowledge and practical skills are gained, permitting student to resolve technological problems connected with estimation of environmet pH, buffering and neutralization processes as well as to distinguish and separate the basic natural products – lipids, amino acids, proteins and carbohydrates.

Competences: Completing the course will be useful to distinguish and estimate of natural products, as well as to estimate of environment conditions.

Prerequisites:

Course content: General chemistry includes: chemistry of water solutions – dissociation, neutralization and hydrolysis reactions; pH, buffer solutions; oxidation and reduction processes; chemical calculations. Organic chemistry includes: isomeria, types of reactions and their mechanisms. Description of functional groups in order to provide a basic understanding of natural products – lipids, amino acids, proteins, carbohydrates and their role in living organisms.
