Learning outcomes: during the course the student is learning basic concepts and methods of statistics, such as graphical data presentation, parameter estimation, hypothesis testing, model of linear dependence; the student is also learning the applications of these concepts and methods for studying social, economic and geographic data.
Competences: After completing the course the student will be able to use statistical methods for economic and geographic data. He will be able to make appropriate graphs, use proper statistical tests and interpret the results.
Prerequisites: Mathematics
Course content: Graphical data presentation. Elements of probability theory (random variable, distribution of a random variable, normal distribution). Statistical inference (point estimation, interval estimation, hypothesis testing). Regression models (least squares estimates, linear regression model). Elements of multivariate analysis.

Assessment methods: Grade for the class, written exam; minimum 60% of knowledge to pass.
