Learning outcomes: Students learn to recognize basic crops, fruit and vegetable cultivars based on their diagnostic features. He/she is able to plan and analyze treatements for a given crop management. The student learns to evaluate the effect of fertilization, weed and disease control, land cultivation, biogenes removal on environment as well as and flora and fauna deterioration. Students acquire knowledge on biological value of plants and their significance in human nutrition.

Competences: The student has knowledge of habitat and crop management affecting crop, fruit and vegetable yields

Prerequisites: Botanics, Soil Science

Course content: Historical and economic value of crops. Basic elements of crop production: forecrop, harvest method and harvest dates, seeding, organic and mineral fertilization, plant protection, yield harvesting, use of plant material for various purposes. Nutritional value of fruit and vegetable. Sensory and diagnostic evaluation of fruit. Evaluation of environmental hazards caused by crop management
