Learning outcomes: The student is able to discuss, differently than in the EU countries, the determinants of development of Polish rural areas and agriculture. He can explain which economic benefits bring to farmers the cooperation in the form of producer group as well as clarify which role it plays in the market economy. The student knows also the advantages and disadvantages of all legal and organizational forms in which could operate the producer groups of agriculturist-gardeners. He knows the tasks of leader and member of the group.

Competences: The student can manage his farm from the financial point of view and manage the selected legal form of the producers’ group and also carry out the designated role in the group.

Prerequisites: Micro- and macroeconomics, law

Course content: The importance of gardening in the agricultural production and the national economy – special features of this production. Basic features of Polish agriculture (including horticulture) compared to EU countires. Joint activities of agricultural producers in Poland and in EU. Legal forms of producers’ groups: open and closed. Structure of the division. Associations. Unions of agricultural producers. Agricultural cooperative as a basic legal form of the joint activities of the agricultural producers. Usefulness of the cooperative activities and current tasks set to the cooperatives. Legal forms of partnerships existing in agricultural industry – private and capital companies. Marketing group. The creation phases of group and leader role.
