Learning outcomes: After completion of this clinical internship students can practically obtain history from the animal’s owner, carry out a clinical examination, diagnose individual disease units, suggest and perform additional examinations and verify diagnosis and treatment on their basis, administer drugs (per os, i.v., i.m., s.c.), evaluate progress of the disease and fill in veterinary documentation (e.g. the case history), perform basic medical teratments and diagnostics procedures (nasogastric intubation, rectal examination).

Competences: Completion of the course enables students to: employ methods of dealing with animals, taking history and carrying out a clinical examination of animals, collect samples for further laboratory and specialist examinations, perform basic veterinary procedures, administer drugs and correctly fill in clinical documentation.

Prerequisites: Animal Anatomy, Topographic Anatomy, Pathomorphology, Physiology, Pathophysiology, Parasitology, Pharmacology, Pharmacy, Veterinary Microbiology, Veterinary Immunology, Clinical and Laboratory Diagnostics, General Surgery and Anaesthesiology, Diagnostic Imaging.

Course content: ethiopathogenesis, clinical signs, diagnostics and treatment of diseases in horses, laboratory blood, urine, feces and skin tests, basic veterinary procedures in horses.
