Learning outcomes: During the course, the students widens knowledge on the structure and mechanisms of functioning of ecological systems. The student is capable of using various methods of ecological research, knows adaptation strategies of organisms to environmental conditions, understands relations between organisms and their environment. The student is able to apply ecological principles in environment protection and nature conservancy.

Competences: Passing the course permits conducting ecological examinations and working in ecological service and state administration in the area of broadly understood nature conservancy.

Prerequisites: Zoology and ecology

Course content: Research methods in animal ecology. Ecogeographic rules. Isolating mechanisms: the ecological isolation. Metabolism and bioenergetics. Levels of ecological organization. Relationships between organisms. Biocenosis. Evolution in ecosystems. Biodiversity. Legal systems of environmental protection and nature conservancy.
