Learning outcomes: The student after completion of the course should know the fundamental issues of spatial planning. He should be able to determine the needs for the planning and to solve them. He should know what methods to collect materials and perform a studial elaboration for spatial planning. He must practically apply the acquired knowledge.

Course content: Subject program: Spatial planning - purpose, scope, basics of spatial planning. Economic-social system: definition, structure, management of system. Relations between spatial managment, spatial policy and spatial planning. Spatial planning system in Poland and the European Union countries. Spatial planning at the national, voivodship and county level. Spatial planning in the municipality - Study of conditions and directions of spatial development of community. The procedure and methods of spatial planning. The law on planning and spatial development - basic definitions, scope. The local plan of land development - the mode of adoption, content of the plan. Prognosis of the impact on the environment, prognosis for the financial consequences of the adoption of local plan. The legal effects of adoption of the plan. Acts relating to the protection of landscape - environmental protection law, law on nature protection, law on protection of cultural goods. Law on the protection of agricultural and forest land. The local plan for land development - graphic indications on the plans, the content of the descriptive section and drawing plan. Determination of the borders to develop a local land development plan. Starting materials, selected analysis and study for the existing status quo for for the needs of the local spatial planning. Urban inventory. Planning materials. Physiographic and demographic studies, study of properties - the purpose and scope. Distinctive elements of the area, the characteristics. Studies of management and investing of land and the risks and environmental protection - the purpose and scope. Analysis of the development, protection zones (conservational and nature protection). Contemporary concepts of spatial planning of rural settlements. Division of residential areas in the centers, the program and the principles of its location. Obligatory norms and guidelines for spatial planning design of residential centre - single-family houses, multi-family, farm buildings. Selected aspects of construction law necessary in spatial planning. Obligatory norms and guidelines for spatial planning design of service center for population and for agriculture (areas of economic activity in the plan of the locality). Industrial areas, the production center for individual farms of medium and large areas, poultry building - principles of programming and design.
