Learning outcomes: Knowledge: W1 - student knows diagnostic characters of the main taxonomical groups of plants and their apomorphic features [BI_W01; BI_W07; BI_W11]; W2 - he describes the structure of subcellular organelles typical for the plant cells and knows physical and biochemical processes of their function [BI_W05; BI_W06; BI_W11]; W3 - he understands the plant position in the food chain [BI_W02]; W4 - he knows evolutionary trends regarding plants’ organs, tissues and reproduction types and understands main directions in their evolution [BI_W07; BI_W11]; W5 - he knows key characters of the most popular plants and botanical families and can recognize them [BI_W01]. Skills: U1 - students are able to prepare microscopic slides and use microscope for biological observation [BI_U8]; U2 - student can make comparative analyses of the botanical data and draw conclusion [BI_U10].

Competences: Personal and social competences (attitudes and behaviors): K1 - Student is aware of a plants biodiversity richness and human responsibility for its safety [BI_K04].

Prerequisites: Biology on the level of secondary school

Course content: Morphology and anatomy of plants’ organs and their variability in an evolutionary aspect, evolution of plant reproduction types, the scheme of plant systematic and their origin, key features of main taxonomical groups, detailed characteristics of the classes and botanical families of the Magnoliophyta division, evolutionary trends in a flower structure.

Assessment methods: Tutorals and lectures are credited separately, on a base of systematically written tests (in total 8), during tutorals also running visual control of the students work and assessment of practical identification of the plant species. Presence during tutorals is obligatory; only one absence is allowed. In a case of the latter student is obligate to pass the part of knowledge realizing during the classes he was absent. Assessment note is a mean note.
