Learning outcomes: The result of lectures on ethics is a shaping of moral sensitivity and ability to assess phenomenon within the cathegories of good and evil, as well as acquirement of ability to set in order one’s own convictions from the point of a system of values recognized by oneself.

Competences: Lectures deliver knowledge enabling an ethical assessement of human attitudes.

Prerequisites: The humanities within the secondary school curriculum.

Course content: Basic notions of ethics: nature of ethics, realism, naturalism, subjectivity, relativism; classic christian ethics: St. Thomas Aquinas  natural law; utilitarianism  J. Bentham, J. St. Mill; post-modernist ethics: Z. Bauman  post-modern personality models; ethics of natural environment and its main trends; ethics of animal protection of P. Singer; euthanasia and medical ethics; abortion and a human person issue; tolerance.
