Learning outcomes: Student after completing the course has accomplished: • knowledge of environmental factors having impact on forest habitats, and principles for the use of land for forestry, • ability to identify the species of trees, shrubs, forest habitats, • knowledge of setting up forest areas, tree planting methods, maintenance works during the growth and development of forest (from seedling to maturity) • knowledge of seedling production, • knowledge of logging technology, • practical skills: ability to use information read from the soil and agricultural or the cadastral maps on purpose of planning, • knowledge of main and incidental ways of forest use.

Competences: Ability to use proper nomenclature for forest management. The practical application of information read from soil and agricultural or the cadastral maps for planning purposes. Knowledge of culture, facilities, and forest use.

Prerequisites: None

Course content: The concept of the forest environment. Characteristics of forests in Poland. Characteristics of habitat types of forests. Forestry seed industry. Economy of nursery. Renewal and afforestation. Treatments in young stands and forestry. Technology of logging.

Assessment methods: Obligatory getting pass in classes and lectures. Minimum knowledge for credit–60%
