Learning outcomes: After completing the course students will be able to characterize basic ecological ideas, ecological properties of population, biocoenosis, ecosystem and ecological succession Theory of homeostasis and evolution of ecosystem.

Competences: The completion of course are preparing to individual, basic research of ecology.

Prerequisites: Zoology, botany

Course content: The course contains main problems of ecology as science and the most important investigation techniques used in it. More detailed problems are: basic ecological ideas, analysis of type life environment (hydrosphere, lithosphere, atmosphere) and influence of abiotic factors (climatic, physical, and chemical ) on organisms, theory of range of ecological tolerance of organism, population and its ecological properties and structures, dynamics and fluctuation of numbers, forms of interspecies effects (nutritive, competition and co-operation), properties and role of ecosystem and biocoenosis, ecological succession (primary and secondary), energetic and nutritive relationships, theory of homeostasis and ecosystem evolution.
