Learning outcomes: Knowledge: knowledge of statistics including data and statistical standards, the basic distribution of random variables, planning of statistical research, knows basic notions of descriptive and exploratory statistics. Has expertise in operations research involving decision-making, allocation algorithms, transport optimization programming, dynamic programming, inventory models, graphs. Skills: The student acquires the ability to select appropriate methods for optimizing the organization of production and transport. The student knows the principles of construction of dynamic programming algorithms. Student is able to correctly represent the results of experiments in the database, choose the appropriate statistical methods, can correctly interpret the data.

Competences: The student knows the economic value of the optimal decision rules. He understands the need for optimization in many fields of activity of the organization. Demonstrates understanding of the impact and the importance of selecting appropriate methods of data analysis. He understands the need for proper data visualisation and presentation.

Prerequisites: Mathematical analysis, probability at basic level, knowledge of EXCEL spreadsheet.

Course content: Johnson's algorithm for arragement of tasks. Deterministic PERT Method. PERT method with variants. The maximum flow algorithm of Ford-Fulkerson. General theory of dynamic programming. Shortest path algorithm, the knapsack algorithm (dynamic programming). Introductory data analysis. Point estimation of statistical parameters. Interval estimation of statistical parameters. Linear regression of one variable. Multiple regression. Nonlinear regression. Parametric tests. Nonparametric tests. The interpretation and presentation of statistical analysis.

Assessment methods: Minimum knowledge to pass - 60%; rating is based on 50% of the results of the test in operations research and on 50% of the test results in statistics.
