Learning outcomes: The student is able to discuss, differently than in the EU countries, the determinants of development of Polish rural areas and agriculture. He can explain which economic benefits bring to farmers the cooperation in the form of producer group as well as clarify which role it plays in the market economy. The student knows also the advantages and disadvantages of all legal and organizational forms in which the producer groups could operate.

Competences: The student can manage his farm from the financial point of view and manage the selected legal form of the producers’ group and also carry out the designated role in the group.

Prerequisites: Micro- and macroeconomics, law

Course content: Special features of the agricultural production. Basic features of Polish agriculture compared to other EU countries. Processes of transformation and their influence on the development of agriculture before and after Poland’s accession. The organization of the market of agricultural products and food industry products. The role of producers’ and marketing groups in creating and realizing the agricultural policy. Institutions supporting the organization of the producers’ groups. Producers’ groups in the EU countries. Legal forms of producers’ groups: open and closed. The creation phases of group and leader role.
