Learning outcomes: Throughout the course students acquire the basic knowledge about the phenomenon of religion and religiousness. They learn about religious diversity of a contemporary world, geographical and statistical scope of religious phenomena, receive basic information about beliefs, cults and an organization of religious life of some chosen religious movements.

Competences: Shaping of a well-disposed attitude of interest and tolerance towards the religious traditions in the world as well as towards the cultures that accompany these religions, the breaking down of hostility and biases towards the alien religions.

Prerequisites: _

Course content: Basic notions, definitions and classification of religions, development of study of religions, methods of study of contemporary study of religions. Research into primeval history of religion and of primitive tribes’ religions. The oldest religions of written word. Monotheism  Abraham-like religions. Peculiarity of Asian religions. Contemporary religion-forming processes.
